Three agents walking together

As a real estate agent, you are running your own business, dependent not on salary, but on the commissions you earn. To find the financial freedom you seek, you must be able to consistently grow your business, attracting more buyers and sellers and closing more transactions year after year. While it may be naïve to say there are easy ways to do that, here are four ways that will help make it possible if you are diligent.

  1. Have a workable business plan – You cannot reach goals you have not set. A good personal business plan will help hold you accountable for the number of calls you will make each day, the number of people you will see each week, the classes you will take to help you find a niche, and the number of transactions you will make this year.
  2. Build a strong online presence – Your website can help you build your brand. Unless you are a technical wiz, invest in professional help to create a site that pleases the eye, shows you in your best light, includes client references, clearly shows the areas in which you excel and offers free and professional consultive services.
  3. Master social media – Be active on multiple sites and be creative. Show your personality along with your real estate expertise. Note local events and destinations, décor trend. Add value with data on what buyers want most, how much you can expect to get back for a kitchen remodel, which school districts are prized. If you are unsure how to do this effectively, follow a colleague or two whose expertise you admire as a model.
  4. Get yourself out there – People tend to do business with people they know and like. Join a club – or two Join the parent group at your children’s school. Get involved in community sports or charitable endeavors. The more people you meet and work with, the more business and business referrals will begin to come your way.

In conclusion, the journey to financial freedom in real estate is not a sprint but a marathon. It requires diligence, adaptability, and commitment to growth. By setting clear goals, establishing a robust online presence, mastering the art of social media, and immersing yourself in the community, you will lay the foundation for a thriving business. Keep pushing forward, and the financial freedom you seek will become a tangible reality, one satisfied client at a time.
